Out of our love of Italy, over the years our family has acquired three apartments, two (adjoing) apartments in Rome, and one in Florence. All are located in the historic center of the city, within easy walking distance of all major sites; all are quite spacious, fully equipped with new appliances and air conditioned, yet furnished with antiques, oriental rugs, and original artwork.
Rome: Located on the third floor of a 14th
century palazzo in the historic center of Rome, we own two adjoining, fully restored
antique-furnished two-bedroom apartments. They are available for a minimum of one week, or monthly.
The palazzo is one block from Piazza Navona, three blocks from Campo di
Fiori market, four blocks to the Pantheon, fifteen minutes walk to the Spanish
Steps or Trastevere, and twenty minutes to St. Peter's. There are numerous excellent restaurants,
boutiques, antique shops as well as grocers in the area. See the attached New York Times articles on our apartments and the neighborhood.
The apartments are extremely
centrally located, spacious (each approx. 1600 sq. ft.) and both have abundant light.
The apartments have been fully restored, are newly painted, maintain antique coffered and beamed wood ceilings with gilt highlights and
polished stained antique wood floors and doors, with oriental rugs and Italian
antique furniture. They both are fully equipped with all necessary linen, kitchen supplies, and appliances (dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, telephones with answering machines,
computer printers [bring your own laptop], TV’s, and stereos), and high speed internet connection, and SKY cable TV.
Each of the Rome apartments comfortably sleeps four, and adjoin one another so they both may be rented by families of up to eight people.
There is no elevator, but only two floors above street
level. Weekly cleaning service is arranged. There is a manager nearby who
greets guests, shows them the apartment, and is available in the event
of
emergencies. A written guide to the
apartment, its systems, the neighborhood, Rome
generally, and useful telephone numbers and services, is provided to
all
guests.
Florence: Our very large, three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in Florence is also centrally located, in the fashionable Santo Spirito neighborhood, one bridge west of the famous Ponte Vecchio bridge, with all of its gold shops. Full restoration and furnishing of the Florence apartment was completed in 2008. Because of its newness, and in order to provide more exposure for it, we are offering special discounts in rates now.
Florence is like a "jewel box" of art and architecture and the neighborhood of our apartment there is within walking distance of all major museums and sites, as well as all shopping and fine restaurants. Our apartment is also a block from the Piazza Santo Spirito with its beautiful Renaissance church, public market and restaurants. For those with a car, there is private parking garage next door to our building.
